Pressure Washing a Driveway

help & advice

Driveway cleaning: step-by-step guide

Whilst the country is on lock down and people are looking for productive ways to spend their time at home, it's the ideal time to jet wash your driveway.

Step 1: Don't skip the preparation!

This is arguably the most important step in the whole process, because if you skip it, the rest of the job becomes a whole lot harder!

Take time to inspect the area, sweep away any debris, remove areas of heavy weed growth, and clear your drainage channels (do NOT sweep debris into them, it can cause blockages).

Step 2: Make it safe

Take a moment to re-familiarise yourself with your pressure washer, checking the settings and ensuring it is properly prepared for use (especially if it's not been used since last year).

Close any windows near the drive and seal any gaps around things like your garage door with tape to prevent water penetrating your property.

Step 3: You're ready to jet wash!

Start at cleaning at the highest point of your driveway so the water washes down and away from the area being cleaned.

Save time by initially using a wide motion, and then revisiting areas of stubborn staining.

Where possible, drain water into bedding areas so it isn't all entering your drainage channels.

And remember, with block paving you may need to re-sand afterwards.

Happy cleaning!
