Pressure washers are not cheap and the last thing you want to happen is have the freezing Winter weather cause permanent damage to your jet washing equipment. When you're putting your pressure washer away over Winter, taking a few moments to ensure proper storage can mean a maintenance free return to use in the Spring.
Flush: Start by flushing your pressure washer system out. This will help clear the system out of any cleaning products and get it as clean as possible before going into storage.
Disconnect: Take apart the lance and hose and drain as much of the water out of the system as you can to ensure there is nothing left inside to freeze over.
Power Up: Switching your pressure washer back on with the lance and hose connected can help remove any water that remains in the system that you weren't able to remove manually. This should only take a few seconds.
Store: The pressure washer is now ready to store. The parts have been disassembled and the system will be almost completely clear of water to prevent damage caused from freezing.
Consider where you are going to store your pressure washer. Garages and out buildings are the typically choice but these can be very cold places, so make sure your equipment is kept reasonably warm and protected from extreme temperatures so a straight-forward start in Spring.
